Mella McCormick

Post-Doctoral Fellow

Mella’s academic background is in philosophy with concentrations in ethics, feminist theory, and aesthetics. For 20 years, she taught philosophy and women’s studies at primarily two-year colleges in Las Vegas, NV and Northern Michigan. In 2021, Mella left the classroom as a faculty member to return as a full-time student to pursue a Ph.D. in Public Policy with a concentration in educational policy and leadership. Her research interests include disicipline based education research (DBER) and the science of teaching and learning, particularly the role of inherited teaching mindsets and pedagogies in undergraduate instruction.
